*Asterisk denotes "Hingham's Own." All runners before 1980 were "Hingham's Own," and had to be Hingham residents.
**Double asterisk denotes record holder.

From 1959-1995, the above information was compiled from Hingham Journal articles that reported race results 1-2 weeks after the event occurred. From 1996-present, above info was compiled from online listings@Coolrunning.The 4, 5, and 4.2 to 4.7 mile distances were remeasured for approximate accuracy and to determine start and finish locations, which were changed to accommodate a growing race. The 4.35 and 4.47 mile distances were recalculated from USA Track and Field measurements.

In the past, total runners reported were determined by registered sign-ups, number completed, and estimations of unregistered participants. Where discrepancies occurred, maximum known numbers were printed. Today's data are gathered electronically, but is checked manually for accuracy. For more history on this event visit the Hingham Recreation website, search for "Wicked Local Thomas E. Belyea," view the Hingham Journal microfilm archives at the Hingham Public Library, or see the HCAM video covering the event from start to finish with host, Vicki Donlan, Recreation Commission Chair.
