February 2, 2010 Meeting Minutes

Present: Committee Members Seelen, Dwyer, Eldredge, Ellison, Farrell, Friedman, Innis, Johnson, Lauter, MacCune, Marwill, Mooradian, O’Meara
1. Call to order
Chair Jerry Seelen called the Advisory Committee meeting to order at 7:09 PM.
2. Approval of Minutes for January 26th
The Committee reviewed and unanimously approved the minutes for January 26th as amended.
3. Economic Summit Discussion
Jerry Seelen thanked the Committee for their help and participation in the Town Economic Summit on January 31st. He singled out Vice-Chair Jack Manning and Secretary Jon Asher for the long hours and efforts put towards the AdCom presentation.
Chair Seelen led a budget discussion and took feedback and comments on the Summit.
Chair Seelen informed the Committee that “Dump Fees” and an override have been taken off the table for FY2011 by the BOS.
The Long Range Waste Disposal and Recycling Committee will study the “Dump Fee” proposal and report back prior to the FY2012 Annual Town Meeting. Irma Lauter agreed to request the LRWDR Committee come before AdCom to discuss their survey findings.
4. Budget Hearings
The Committee heard FY11 budget presentations from the following departments.

The change is based on the hiring of a new Sanitarian at a lower wage level. The BoH has maximized the use of grant money to lower the Department budget for FY2011. |

Correction made to TA Contract dollars. |
A suggestion was made to conduct job audits over the next year to look for additional efficiencies and savings.
Chair Seelen called the Committee’s attention to the new AdCom website. An email address is now available for use by the citizens as well as a direct phone number which will be answered by Lynn Phillips in Ted Alexiades’ office.
The Chair signaled the Committee will now meet every Tuesday and Thursday beginning at 7:00 PM.
5. Adjourn
The Committee meeting adjourned at 10:23 PM.
