The Committee discussed—but did not vote —the CPC-sponsored Warrant article Affordable Housing 80 Beal Street. More information was requested regarding the actual need for and use of the requested $150,000 as well as the tax status of the resultant property going forward. The question was also raised regarding HAHT’s willingness to implement deed restrictions to target the units for seniors. Further questions should be directed to Dan Dwyer.
Although petitioner Russell Reeves had departed the meeting, the Committee considered an article to reduce the 1.5% CPA property-tax surcharge to .005%.
An amendment, offered by Dick Innis to reduce the surcharge to .75%, was defeated.
An amendment, offered by Irma Lauter to reduce the surcharge to 1.25%, was not seconded.
The Committee voted ‘No Action’ with one abstention.
The Committee will next meet on Monday, March 1st with the School Committee at 7:30 PM in the School Department Conference Room.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:26 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Jonathan R. Asher, Secretary
