I. Call to order
Chairman Sandy Peavey called to order the regular meeting of the Cable Advisory Committee at 7:05 pm on August 26, 2009 at Norwell Town Hall.
II. Roll call
Eric Connerly conducted a roll call. The following persons were present: Sandra Peavey, Jim Dellot, Amy Goebel, Eric Dresser and Eric Connerly as well as Norwell CAC Member Chet Flynn and Hanover CAC members Les Molyneaux, Jonathan Grabowski and Rick Kelly
III. Open issues
A. Hanover Cable operation
a. Mr. Molyneaux and Mr. Grabowski (who runs the Marshfield PAC studio) discussed the plan of the Hanover CAC for cable service. They do not plan to form a 501(c)3 but rather operate the studio under the auspices of town government. The committee was very newly formed after approval by town meeting.
B. Scituate Cable
a. Scituate intends to form a 501(c)3 and intends to operate a studio in their own town, though they are open to accepting programming from other towns. They are sympathetic to having a regional program director, though they would like to form their own studio.
C. Norwell Cable
a. Mr. Flynn indicated that the studio is likely to be operated by the town rather than by a standalone corporation. The studio would likely be operated out of space in the town’s high school.
D. Hingham Cable
a. Mr. Dresser agreed to post the rules and operating procedures for the Brockton public access studio at EricDresser.com.
b. Various Hingham CAC members indicated the early stage of decisionmaking in town for the provision of PEG programming.
E. Future activities.
a. All in attendance agreed to meet again on September 29 to try to coordinate regional PEG programming, including possibly sharing studio operation.
F. Press Release
a. Mr. Connerly moved, and Ms. Goebel seconded authorizing Ms. Peavey to draft a press release concerning the new Access Fee appearing on Comcast bills in August. The motion was UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.
IV. Adjournment
Mr. Flynn adjourned the meeting at 8:15 pm
