Hingham Cable Advisory Committee
Meeting Minutes
April 7, 2010
I. Call to order
Sandra Peavey called to order the regular meeting of the Hingham CAC at 7:05 pm on 4/7/2010 in Hingham Town Hall.
II. Roll call
Eric Connerly conducted a roll call. The following persons were present: Eric Dresser, Jim Dellot, Sandra Peavey, Katy Gallagher-Wooley, Eric Gauthier, Rob Kirk, Amy Goebel and Eric Connerly. Also present: government channel employee Kate Richardsson
III. Open issues
a) Government channel staffing
The committee discussed hourly rates for cable personnel - $18 per hour in Brockton and Dedham was a common rate. Mr. Dellot moved, Ms. Goebel seconded a motion to pay a flat rate of $75 per selectmen's meeting. Motion UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. Mr. Dellot moved, Ms. Goebel seconded a motion to urge the selectmen to approve paying $20 per hour for people to record other content for the government channel. UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.
b) Transmission of government channel
Various quality issues surrounding the transmission quality of the government channel were discussed. Mr. Dellot motioned and Mr. Connerly seconded a motion to recommend the selectmen purchase and install an LCD projector with feed split to the production equipment to display exhibits and presentation in the board of selectmen rooms. UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.
c) Town Meeting
Various solutions to recording town meeting were discussed. The CCTV system in the high school has been broken for awhile, requiring $1950 to repair.
d) Request to Selectmen to pay for education channel needs
Ms. Gallagher-Wooley discussed the recent cuts to the high school library budget the likely cancellation of the high school's television production program unless funds could be provided for instruction. The committee discussed some changes to wording of the proposed recommendation to the selectmen. Ms. Goebel motioned and Mr. Connerly seconded a motion to approve submission of the recommendation to provide funds for 0.4 FTE for education channel staffing to the Board of Selectmen. UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.
e) Equipment for government channel
The committee discussed various equipment needs for the government channel and a response to Comcast's demand for $8,000 for equipment the town procured from the Norwell studio.
f) Public forum
The scheduled forum on the 12th was discussed and recording requirements were submitted.
IV. Adjournment
Ms. Peavey adjourned the meeting at 9:00 pm.
