ICLEI Carbon Footprint Report Update
Report due to be complete and formal presentation to made to the HEAC the week of 12/1
Laura Burns from the Board of Selectman to be invited
The normal working meeting of the HEAC will be the week of 12/8 to accommodate the ICLEI presentation the week of 12/1
Transportation Data in report: basis of data generation is not well understood; Pam Harty to the Metropolitan Planning Organization (“MPO”) to follow up on assumptions made.
Hingham Journal Articles
Article describing the ICLEI carbon study was written and submitted to the Journal be Jeff Bourne; expect to see article this week.
Future article: editorial describing next actions to be taken by HEAC to be written by Russ Heissner and submitted for the Thanksgiving day Journal.
Immediate Actions Needed
Wind Turbine By-Law
o A draft of the Cohasset Wind Turbine Zoning By-Law was circulated for discussion and comment to members of the HEAC, and also to Katie Lacy from the Zoning Board
o The HEAC will develop a specific by-law for Hingham once comments are solicited from among the committee members and other community stakeholders no later than 11/17.
o Intent is to submit a warrant article for next Town Meeting
Keyspan Outreach Program
o Pam to contact ICLEI & Keyspan to gather information about key benefits of using natural gas vs heating oil in the context of carbon footprint.
Building Codes
o Dick Morgan and (2) to be indentified Leeds certified architects to be invited to a future meeting to discuss Green Buildings programs that might be developed for Hingham in the future
School Department review of Performance Contracting proposals
o SourceOne proposals are being re-drafted to be made current
o An informational meeting regarding performance contracting will be organized by Pam Harty. Invitees: David Killory, Laura Burns, and Ted Alexiades.
