Meeting Minutes May 12, 2009

- meeting called to order at 1905

- Karen Thompson, a prospective committee member, was introduced to the committee.

- unable to vote on last meeting minutes, not everyone had received them to review, last meeting notes will be distributed for review and vote taken to accept at next meeting

- discussion around DOER Energy Efficiency grant, #4 talks about the dollar limits for an Owner’s Agent for Performance Contracting, cap of $10k

- discussion on whether Source One had audited Town Hall several years ago and if it had been, was report available? Heanue reported that he’d seen the report and would forward it to the Committee.

- dialogue on energy audits being done at Lincoln Street apartments by ENE. according to management from apts. there are a limited “style” of apts. ENE was going to audit and report on each type and common lighting. request made of Heanue to make audit reports available to committee when received. commitment made to forward reports.

- Harling meeting with Source One on Monday May 18 to talk about getting new “figures” which would reflect today’s costs and savings from their audit dated 2005 of town facilities.

- discussion on applying for grants. Harty described discussions were taking place between Town Administrator Kevin Paicos and General Manager John Tzimorangas over funding for performance contracting.

- positive and negative aspects of using state pre-approved vendors vs. issuing RFP and selecting Hingham specific agent. based on pre-approved vendors’ answers to specific and topically related items, questions as to their qualifications raised. decision to continue to evaluate DCAM pre-approved names for suitability. Paicos will be contacted for assistance in writing RFP to select our own if decision is made to go in that direction.

- Popp will check with South Shore Country Club for energy efficiency opportunities

- a Home Energy Seminar to take place on Wednesday 5-20, questions as to whether audit info gleaned by ENE during home energy audits is catalogued. Heanue to check and report back.

- discussion on Energy Action Committee desire and need to have a budget line item inserted in Town budget. talk around should there be one, how much and what would it be used for.

- need for infra-red camera discussed and would HMLP purchase 1 or 2? Heanue to check

- “stretch” building code discussion tabled for now

- questions regarding Town’s lack of interest in Demand Response program despite “free” money being available
