Minutes of the Country Club Management Committee
Held at the South Shore Country Club

 

MINUTES OF THE February 17, 2011

Members Present: Kathleen Curley, Paul Casey, Kerry Ryan, and William Friend.

Others Attending: Jay McGrail, SSCC Director of Operations. 

Kathleen Curley, Chairman of the CCMC, called the meeting to order, with a quorum present, at 6:30PM.

As the first order of business, the Chairman called for questions or comments with regard to   the January 18, 2011 CCMC meeting minutes. After a short discussion, on motion duly made and seconded, the minutes were unanimously approved, with the secretary/clerk being authorized to make any reasonable corrections he deems necessary and appropriate.

The Chairman then asked Jay McGrail to provided the Committee with an update on SSCC’s golf simulator business operation.  Jay McGrail noted the continuing success of the golf simulator business and documented the revenues received to date. 

Jay McGrail, as requested by the Committee at its last meeting, presented a report on the SSCC bowling alley operations and commented on his meetings with the Town Administrator and the bowling alley operator on the status of the lease for the bowling alley facilities (“Country Club Lanes”). A lengthy discussion followed. After which it was agreed that a long-term plan must be developed for the bowling alley operations.  Jay McGrail stated that he would continue to work with Ted Alexiades-the Town Administrator, Lou Pumphrey-the bowling alley operator, and the Committee to develop the needed plan.  It was also agreed that Committee members, Kerry Ryan Paul Casey would work with Jay McGrail on the bowling alley issues and   discussions with Lou Pumphrey, and that Susan Murphy, an attorney for the town who specializes in real estate law, would be asked to assist with this process.   

Following the foregoing discussion, Jay McGrail addressed several administrative matters including: the status of a town warrant article concerning an overlay district for wind turbines, the Litchfield House Sitec report and the scheduling of SSCC Kite Day on March 27,2011.  A short discussion of these matters followed.

Thereafter, on motion duly made and seconded, the Committee voted unanimously to adjourn.
