Committees: Taxation Aid Fund Committee
At the April 2000 Town Meeting the townspeople voted to accept the provisions of MGL, Chapter 60, section 3D that allowed the establishment of an Aid to the Elderly and Disabled Taxation Fund. By statute, donations to this fund are to be used to help alleviate the property tax burden on certain elderly and disabled citizens who are living on fixed incomes. The distribution of the funds is to be administered by a taxation aid committee consisting of the Chairman of the Board of Assessors, the Town Treasurer and three residents appointed by the Board of Selectmen.
