The meeting began at 7:10 PM.

Discussion
1. The committee reviewed the purpose and authorization of the Committee as stated in
Ch 60 s. 3D and
Town Meeting April 2000 Article 42
2. Financial status of the fund is as follows:
The fund was established July 1, 2000.
The balance as of June 30, 2009 was $11,156.75.
3. The committee began its discussion of policy and procedure development by reviewing what other municipal Taxation Aid Committees have established as their guidelines. The committee also discussed what exemption programs Hingham currently has in place through the Assessor’s office.
Jean Montgomery distributed copies of mission statements, guideline handouts and applications that are currently being used in three different towns: Newton, Harvard and Marblehead for the purposes of discussion and consideration in the development of own application and distribution guidelines.
Greg Hall distributed copies of Hingham’s Assessor exemption and deferral applications as well as a FY 2010 Exemption handout that summarizes the eligibility requirements for each exemption category.
It was decided that discussion would continue at the next meeting after each member has had an opportunity to review all the material.
