Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 P. M. by Jean Montgomery, chairman pro tem. Present were Greg Hall and Carolyn Kelliher. Irma Lauter of the Advisory Committee also attended. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
Jean distributed a revised draft application and revised draft guidelines. Discussion took place the draft documents. The committee discussed appropriate income levels to be applied. The Newton guidelines provided for lower income levels than the revised draft guidelines.
The income levels in the revised draft guidelines were provided by the Assessors office. Lane Partridge, the Assessor Director came into the meeting. He explained that the income levels given were a percentage of the Boston Area Gross Income levels based on the CPA guidelines but that they were mandated by state law. He indicated that the Taxation Aid Committee could choose a lower percentage as they were not bound by any statute in that regard. Someone will contact Newton to find out why they chose the income level they did. The figures for the median house assessment will be obtained.
The next meeting is scheduled for 4:00 P.M. on February 19th.
