Minutes of Meeting
September 9, 2010 at Estuary Center
Present: Dick Avery (Cohasset)--SCRIBE
Faith Burbank (Hingham)
Judeth Van Hamm, Scott Plympton (Hull)
Absent: Charlie Higginson (Cohasset), Jim Rodgers (Hingham), Amy May
(Hull)
1. Meeting began at 7:00 P.M.
2. Minutes of June 2 , 2010 approved with the following corrections.
No meetings were held in July or August
Note: Corrected minutes will be sent to Judeth, Dick, Faith to
forward to appropriate Town authorities re Open Meeting Law
3.Matrix for tracking WREP activities was updated. Other notes:
A. Chatham Street Parcel Conservation Restriction is now registered
B. Hull Land Cons. Trust still needs to raise $ 41,000 to be clear of
obligations and have a $10,000 Maintenance Endowment
C. Vinny Dunn on Jerusalem Road has indicated he is willing to raise
money for access to Straits Pond Island via Richards Road
D. Boyle property between GWB and Weir River weir has been added to
Matrix because of development plans for a large home on a promontory.
Scott Plympton will send a letter to Hingham Con Com for WREP by Sept.13
E. Faith will check with Sam re Selectmen Meeting re Foundry Pond
4.Naming of Tide Gates at West Corner Culvert
A. Sheila Conners of Hull is spear heading this effort and has all info
B. Location of Plaque may determine approval needed by Hingham Town
Mtg.
5.Judeth met with Hull Con Com to talk WREP goals and Forum
A. Sheila Conners would like to see a kayak landing near GWBlvd.
B. Judeth will give Con Com a copy of the WREP Land Protection Plan
6.Open Meeting Law mandates operational changes:
A. WREP will post Activities Matrix along with Meeting Minutes on
websites
B. Agenda for next meeting will be drafted at preceding meeting to post
7.Forum to build consensus on path forward for Weir River Park
A. Current thinking involves meeting at Jakes Restaurant March 19 or 26
B. TTOR has been asked if they have staff to run the forum
C. Results desired from the Forum:
1. Signage and maps
2. Trails for water craft, bicycles, pedestrians
3. Programs for monitoring
4. Boundaries to indicate on maps
5. Management Plan
6. Points of interest to highlight
7. Contacts for information, issues
8. Facilities guide
9. Responsibilites and authorities
10. Education Program
11. Access Points
12. Official Designation as a Park, an entity
8. Next Meeting will be October 6 at Hingham Town Hall
A. Neither Dick Avery nor Faith Burbank are available to meet
B. Bill Sarni will attend for Faith. Dick is to ask Vin Dunn to join.
