Status of Construction
Main Street will reopen in late August.
Fort Hill intersection continues. A berm was installed. The road work is largely completed. The island was installed. The Quint can get through the intersection but the Spirito "low-boy" cannot. Roger Wilson has been called to see if the islands can be shortened.
Work has begun at the Fort Hill, South and West St. grade crossing. The road will be closed for 3 months. The gas line is complete. The road will rise 1.2 feet on West Street to accommodate Quincy Ave. One of the trees on West St. will e marked "save if possible".
A tide gate alternative was proposed for the Station Street parking lot. The Town has concerns about the design. Roger Fernandes has contacted Horsley & Witten. Horsley & Witten believes there is a problem with the data which calls into question the design.
The Town accepted the change in design for the siphon.
Town's Concerns
CBB has looked into the drainage concern that was raised. The town wrote a letter regarding the private wells near the tracks. Work at the outfall would have to be permitted by the Conservation Commisison. The by-pass road will be tested by the Fire Department prior to the road being closed.
Record drawing for force main and manuals are still outstanding. Manhole cover is offset and needs to be realigned prior to final paving. David Polcari of CDM presented a letter on excessive infiltration at North and Central Street. There is a sag in the sewer pipe in North Street that needs to be addressed. CBB and the Sewer Department have agreed on a settlement. The Sewer Department is still waiting for the check. The vent pipe must be moved off the sidewalk on Central Street.
Punch list continues. Major items remaining are largely related to sewer work. There is agreement by all parties on the outstanding issues.
Cliff Prentiss has produced a shop drawing for a gate design for the Town Brook to show DEP. Drawing prepared and has been provided to CBB. The Town has made a formal request to the MBTA.
The Town raised the concern about the amount of dewatering going on in the boat sections. No change.
The Town raised a concern about waterproofing of the tunnel.
The Town Fire Department has been training in the tunnel. It has been going very well.
The Town renewed its request for a fire hydrant at the grade crossing at Eldridge Court as was shown in the original design. Mr. McRae explained that since the intersection was not being closed, it was no longer required and was dropped from the plans.
