News and Announcements

Assistant Harbormaster/Pump-out Operator: The Harbormaster is looking for candidates to fill this position. Please see the Job Posting. A short examination will be offered on Saturday May 15 at 1600-1700 and Sunday May 16, from 1000-1100 at the Hingham Town Hall. This exam is designed to guage ones knowledge of Town and State boating laws. If you choose to study for this exam please review Article 15 Harbor By-Laws and The Boat Massachusetts booklet published by the Environmental Police. Please complete the job application and return it to the Human Resource Office before the closing date.

Up Comming Safe Boating Course:
The Safe Boating course is free to all and will last four evenings from 7:00-10:00 pm. There will be a short examination on the last day. All who susccessfully complete the course will be issued a safe boating certificate from the Environmental Police. This course will be held on May 25th & 27th, June 1st & 3rd. Mooring Permits: Permts have been sent in the mail to all applicants. Please check our "Moorings" page for more information.

Saltwater Fishing Permit: New federal law  requires most saltwater recreational fishermen to be documented in 2010 and a new state law will trigger a transition from the federal registry in 2010 to the state’s marine recreational fishing permit program in 2011. To learn more about the saltwater fishing permit visit the Division of Marine Fisheries.

Mooring Regulations: The Hingham Harbormaster's office is proposing the new Mooring Regulations.  The current document is in draft form and feedback is welcome.
