Voted - to accept the minutes of April 11 and April 18

Appointment of Full Time Temporary Police Sergeant - Chief Carlson recommended that Officer David A. Horte, the first name of the certified promotional list be appointed to fill this vacancy.  He reported that Officer Horte has gained valuable insight and professional maturity while actively engaged in learning and practicing the art and science of small unit leadership.  In so doing he has earned the trust of his peers. He has also improved his communication skills in his supervisory role. He also reported that he has the professionalism, integrity, sound judgment and proven capacity to lead effectively.   Ms. Tully echoed Chief Carlson's comments and was pleased with this recommendation.  Mr. Riley also approved of this appointment and pointed out that all of the candidates were very good and should be not discouraged to apply for future promotions. Mr. Edmundson agreed with his colleagues and thought Officer Horte would bring valuable experience to the Police Department as a Sergeant.

Voted, to appoint Officer David Horte temporary full-time sergeant to the Hingham Police Department, effective May 15, 2006, pending approval of the Department of Personnel Administration.

Form A  Application -  Plan of Land in Beal Street in Hingham, MA, dated April 28,
2006, prepared by Aaberg Associates Inc.  James O'Brien. Chairman of the Housing
Partnership Committee advised that the plan to accompany the Form A Application to
the Planning Board denotes that this parcel will have access from Beal Street through a
50 foot driveway and meets the frontage requirements for a determination and
endorsement that Planning Board approval under the Subdivision Control Law is not required.  

Voted, to submit a Form A Application to the Planning Board for that portion of the Bare Cove Park School Depot site known as the Selectmen's Parcel, Assessor's Map 69, Lot 44, for affordable housing.

Voted, to award the contract for the swimming pool management at the South Shore Country Club to the South Shore YMCA, for a three-year period, for $303,289.00 over the duration of the contract. (This was the only proposal received).

Voted, to grant Eastern Yacht Sales, Inc., c/o Jon Rotenberg, 335 Lincoln Street a Class II Used Car Dealer's License, expiring January 1, 2007.  This license is limited to trailers over 3,000 pounds.

Selectmen's Reports - Mr. Edmundson will draft a notice, for the Board to review, that
will be noticed in the Hingham Journal announcing the date and information concerning the Selectmen's Goal Setting meeting.
