Board of Selectmen - Minutes

Ms. Tully called the meeting to order.

The Board voted, by roll call vote, to adjourn to executive session for the purpose of discussing real property and to return to open session at approximately 7:00 pm.

Open session resumed 7:00 pm.

Voted - to approve the minutes of August 21, September 4, September 18 and October 2, 2007.


The Board heard the following budgets:

  Library 
  Public Works/Landfill/Recycling

Mr. Stigliani explained that a large dump truck with sander package that had been deferred under the capital plan had broken down and the cost of repairs exceeded what would be a reasonable amount to spend on the older vehicle.  The department needs to replace the vehicle and must have a transfer from the reserve fund in order to do so.

Voted - to recommend a transfer from the Reserve Fund to the Department of Public Works Capital Outlay Account in the amount of $44,500.

Voted - to sign a contract with Patriot International Trucks for one new 2008 Model 7400 dump truck in the amount of $107,222.

Cable Service
Mr. Cristello explained that the Cable Advisory Committee had been working with special counsel and drafted a report regarding Verizon's interest in providing cable service to the Town.  The each member of the Board had received a copy of the draft report and had the opportunity to review it prior to this evening.
 
Voted - to approve and issue the Issuing Authority Report relative to Verizon of New England's interest in providing cable service in the Town of Hingham.
