Mr. Riley, Ms. Burns, Mr. Rabuffo
Mr. Riley said the Board members had been calling prospective members of the Town Administrator Search Committee. Ms. Burns thanked everyone who was willing to serve on the Committee. She noted that the list of candidates had extensive experience as Selectmen, Advisory Committee members, Planning or Personnel Board members or in Town affairs.
Voted - to appoint the following members of the Town Administrator Search Committee:
Nelson Ross
Michael Puzo
Philip Edmundson
Dorothy Galo
Katharine Reardon
Roger Sullivan
Tod McGrath
Linda Port
Ms. Burns said that she had passed on the name of two search consultants to Mr. Ross. He had proposals in hand from three search firms. Mr. Ross advised Ms. Burns that he thought it would be appropriate for the Board of Selectmen to be involved in the choice of a consulting firm. The Board noted that typically a chair would be chosen for the new committee but they had been unable to reach people. Ms. Burns suggested that Mr. Puzo be appointed acting chair until such time as a permanent chair could be named.
Voted - to appoint Michael Puzo acting chairman of the Town Administrator Search Committee.
Voted - to appoint Betty Foley Acting Town Administrator effective July 1, 2008.
Mr. Rabuffo discussed the need for a revised Town Administrator job description. He has discussed the draft description with Mr. Basler and hopes to bring a final copy to the June 3 meeting for the Board to approve for submission to the Personnel Board.
Ms. Burns said she had recently spoken to citizens about the search. She said there are people who may have thoughts on what qualities the Town needs in an administrator and for that reason an email box has been set up on the web page for any comments or suggestions.
Mr. Riley suggested that the Board plan its goal-setting meeting for June 11 in the morning in order to allow department heads and other interested town employees to attend.
Voted - to hold the Selectmen's goal-setting meeting on June 11 at 10:00 am.
