Ms. Burns – yes
Mr. Riley – yes
Mr. Rabuffo – yes
The Board met with Town Counsel James Toomey, Superintendent Galo, and Nelson Ross, to discuss the history of Dr. Galo’s health insurance premiums.
After review of a report on the matter from the town’s auditors, the Board voted unanimously to endorse the following statement:
“Relative to the matter of Dr. Galo’s health insurance premiums, the Board had asked Powers and Sullivan, the town’s audit firm, to review the history, in the interest of openness. Based on that study and on information provided by Dr. Galo, the Board concludes that Blue Cross/Blue Shield provided erroneous information to the Town which caused a shortfall in premium collections amounting to $14,346 over the course of several years. The auditors concluded that this error is ‘not material’ to the town’s financial interest. When this matter arose in 2007, appropriate adjustments were made to correct the error going forward. The Board concludes that Dr. Galo was not responsible for the error. It has been corrected, and the matter is closed.”
After discussion of the status of the Hersey House litigation, the Board returned to open session.
Ted Alexiades and Betty Foley joined the meeting. The Board discussed the proposal to create two Deputy Town Administrator positions. No action was taken.
The meeting adjourned at 9:55.
