About Us
There are three elected officials that serve on the Board of Sewer Commissioners. In the Town Hall, there are three office workers and in the field, there are four members of the maintenance crew.
We currently operate and maintain 13 pump stations and approximately 33 miles of sewer.
There are houses on 149 streets in Hingham connected to the municipal sewer system.

About The Field Crew:
Jim Dow, Supervisor
Jim was hired by the Hingham Sewer Department in 1987 as a summer helper and was soon placed as a full-time employee. In 1991, he was promoted to his current position. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Department.
Steve Dempsey, Station Operator
Steve transfered to the Hingham Sewer Department in June of 2004 after 15 years of service at the
Public Works Department. Steve is the leader of the maintenance crew.
Ed Hunnefeld, Maintenance Mechanic
Ed was originally hired by the Hingham Sewer Department in 1988. After leaving the crew to pursue other options, he returned to the Department in 1992. Ed is one of two mechanics responsible for
troubleshooting equipment and detecting problems before they occur.
Larry Hallahan, Maintenance Mechanic
Larry was originally hired by the Hingham Sewer Department in 1980. After several years, he left the crew to pursue other options, he returned to the Department in 1996. Larry is one of two mechanics responsible for equipment maintenance and repair.
